ok,
this isn't a lp, but deserves a mention as an essential hip hop tune.
originally released in 1982, this has to be the tune that turned so many
heads towards hip hop culture.

public
enemy's image was more about black pride than gangster rap. controversial
at the time - but only because they made a noise, spoke their minds, then
happened to be heard by people who didn't like what they heard.

debut album from the former nwa member is a landmark lp for gangster
rap. paving the way for others, this album also introduced us to
snoop doggy dogg.
