zema – “black sheep” [melchizedek music] – reggae as we thought it was forgotten – womanist interpretation of psalmic roots recorded in jamdown with heavyweight musicians lending real respect to this motown born white rasta sister who truly sings, writes and produces like she was born to it. 

breis – “your favourite mc” [bambreis,net] - positive upbeat 9ja/uk rap from breis who’s collaborated with ty and tony allen before now and tore up the stage at out of africa’s mega africa05 fest at carnaby street recently. expect to hear more of this guy

mercan dede – “su” [doublemoon] - kinda different from previous outings for the digital sufi master who blends all kind of roots from his turkish heritage and really knows how to use turntables in a live context . a far more ambient spacey sound than we associate. nourishing and fabulous!

madioko & rafika – “rythm'n’bled” [night and day] - where mali meets the orient with double the seductive hypnotic beats that grow on you and won’t let you stop playing this one. one minute meditative the next bad ass funky

omar sosa – “mulattos” [ota] - inspired linking with dhafer youssef (oud) (amongst others from diverse roots) for the brilliant spiritual cuban born pianist/percussionist opening doors to a wealth of global cultural influences in sosa’s typically open hearted striving for music that’s sensual and thought provoking - leaving cuba yet always returning.
