french immigrant who developed a strong taste for house music in the
early 90s...moved to the capital to experience the atmosphere of the
parisian dancefloors and quickly embraced the sounds played by people
like dj gregory, dj deep, eric rug and shazz... a few clubs
nights and a weekly radio show quickly followed the move.
an
old' smoke resident since 1998, he has worked for a little while with
the vinyl junkies records store to help to promote deep underground

ahmad miller ahmad's
first ep [stones throw 2003] - mad
lib, joe mcduphrey and crew bring some off kilter millenial jazz fusion type
shit as only they can!
eddie harris and les mccann - shorty
rides again [atlantic 1971] -
the definition of funky jazz
from two of its all time heavyweights
an unstoppable dancefloor
number.
the five corners quintet blueprint [rikki tik 2003] - proper
jazz from nuspirit helsinki producer tuomas and five finnish jazz big boys
including eero koivistoinen!
michel le grand and co la
pasionara [gryphon 1978] - it's
that "loud minority" sample in all its glory as monsieur le grand
is joined by just about everyone for a frantic jazz workout.
sandboy
- the
hike [hinterland 2003] - first
release from a very promising label. sounding like the cinematic orchestra
meets jill scott...mmmmmmm.
the albert mangelsdorf quintet
- now
jazz ramwong [amiga 1964] - powerful,
deep and heavy military sounding eastern european jazz from the sixties that
sends shivers every time!
sleepwalker ai-no-kawa [especial 2003] - hadjime
yoshizawa and the crew get into the real swinging jazz thing on okino san's
excellent label. check the lp too!
lee morgan - sweet
honey bee [blue note 1966] - lesser
known than "the sidewinder" but quite a deft and subtle little
number from one of blue notes all time greats.
alison crockett like
rain [wah wah 45's 2003] -
flip side to the next single from one of the
reatest 7-inch labels in the world(?!). lush strings, alison's deeply
jazzy vocals have lead to
comparisons to 4-hero...which are very much appreciated.
sahib shihab & the danish radio jazz group mai
ding [oktav 1965] - rare
as hen's knackers jazz, and taken from possibly one of the greatest, and
deepest, jazz lps ever made. need i say more?
