sun ra and his arkestra - "india" [el saturn] - bonkers pianist, arkestra leader and complete genius indulges the listener in "a vibrant thought in sound, projecting to the mind the feel of the soul of india". nice!

duke pearson - "the phantom" [blue note] - title track of one of duke's finest lps- evocative, moody, dirty and ultimately very funky indeed.

kaos and ce.el - "around in circles" [compost] - germany's answer to the cinematics do the deep jazz thing under their renegades guise- and not a broken beat in sight!

horace silver - "the aztec sun god" [blue note] - incredible tribal jazz bizznizz from the 1978 "silver'n percussion" lp. one side dedicated to african ascension, the other to american indian uprising with horace donning a different traditional outfit on each side of the sleeve!

sun ra - "satellites" (zero db and dj hectic mix) [mo smog] - second entry from the raster, but this time a remix of the crazy one by fluid ounce head honchos zero db and one dj hectic, aka monsieur peterson! brings new meaning to the term "dancefloor jazz".

eddie and the eggs - "that was yesterday" [joss house] - maurice fulton comes good with a cracking little jazz number from his crazy "this is your brain" lp. check the mad artwork!

naima - "eastern rebellion" [imagem] - surprisingly good 70's version of the coltrane classic by pianist cedar walton and pals.

karin krog - "maiden voyage" [crippled dick hot wax] - the norwegian songstress provides her own unique take on herbie's masterpiece. spaced out scandinavian jazz madness. i love it!

masters at work – “backfired” (joey negro club mix) [maw] - absolute stormer from maw.... again! the track simply gets better and better as it goes on. i just wish the last inch lasted a bit longer!

crispin j glover – “fried” [paperecordings] - by far the stand out track on his 2000 album, 'rhythm graffiti', this can be dropped in amongst all kinds of flavours. always in the box.

arnold jarvis – “rising into joy” [black vinyl] - black vinyl are on fire at the moment. great vocal tune from mr. jarvis that goes down a treat every time.

t-connection – “at midnight” (re-edit) [paul raymond] - bit late coming on to this but enjoy dropping it every time.... never fails to get the floor going after the hypnotic percussion intro..

coco steel and lovebomb – “feel it” [warp] - a re-discovered gem that sounds and feels like '91, yet fits in nicely to the plan b flavours.

chris cags – “sugar jewel” [black vinyl] - twisted disco of the highest order..

j-walk – “heavens above” [pleasure] - nice end of the night stuff from the boys that brought plan b their original anthem.... soul vibration

chaka khan – “i know you, i love you” (danny krivit edit) [strut] - yet another piece of history re-edited by the master.

inland knights present beat loaf – “key flow” [drop music] - i always carry a few 'drop' tunes in the bag - plan b sound from the clinic.. strong ep, this just about nudges it for me..

deja vu – “sex in the dark” [nordic trax] - absolutely brilliant track from toronto - don't know much more about it... other than it works every time
