dom also runs and dj's at the infamous mouseorgan night @ herbal with jake holloway (central).

herbert – “the audience” [k7!] - possibly the tune of the year. original in everyway..and what a breakdown!

jill scott - ”scott free” [white] - bootie of the year, now got a proper release. proper house music with a proper vocalist..makes me feel a bit slushy too!

the bendik singers – “afrotid” [wah wahmoose] - first release from our norwegian imprint. "hair" meets eurovision meets  bobby hughes funk..essentially eosoteric.

india arie – “strength, courage and wisdom” [motown] - my fave from a great soul/jazz lp..what a lady!

fethawit – “not that girl” [wah wah 45's] - latest release from our 45's label. little known vocalist fethawit hakin from stavanger in norway does the twisted r'n'b thing to perfection

hardkandy – “moonlight” [catskills] - this was my fave tune of the summer. melancholy yet  dancefloor electronica with haunting vocals.

4-hero – “hold it down” [talkin' loud] - everyone knows about this tune. floorfiller of the year.

afronaught -  “transcend me” [main squeeze] - broken beat masterpiece of the year from mister walters. can't forget phlash commanding the hoxton trendies to dance to this at mouseorgan!

the gotan project – “la revanche del tango” [ya basta!] - the whole lp is original, sublime music made by lovely people for lovely people.

snorre seim – “brasses park” [hi-fi terapi] - and talking of lovely people. snorre (aka butti 49) and eivind olsvik from hi-fi terapi are two of the greatest! this tune is pure scandinavia meets brasil chaos..a dancefloor killer!

rjd2 – “here's what's left” [altered vibes] - amazing hip-hop meets folk funk from this excellent label. think  shuggie otis in bed with dj spinna and you’re half way there!

landslide – “hear my people” [hospital] - tim land is the man and this tune is a very tasty 2-step/nu jazz crossover. big love to all @ hospital records.

anything by earl zinger/red egyptian [red egyptian] - zinger (aka rob g) makes possibly the greatest underground music coming out of this fair city @ the moment. this music with lush instruments, great songwriting, and above all a sense of humour...plus some great cover
versions!

anything by quantic [tru thoughts/breakin bread] -
quantic, or quanners, aka will holland should get even more props in 2002. look out for him; this young chap understands funk traditions, hip hop culture, and has a cheaky eye on the nu jazz and 2-step scenes too!

various – “clash and diversion” (alternative novo-dub 2) [hi-subway] - spacey mind-delving dubs from this brilliant french label. revelations from artist’s like ezekiel, munky lee, hybrid sound system. vol 1 is superb too.

mei tei sho – “xam sa bop” [small axe] - reggae, jungle, jazz, mblax, street vibes , searing live act with great sengalese frontman and members from croatia, portugal and of course their home base lyons. i love this band, watch out for them!

various – “mouthwatering menus” [weltrekords] - there’s some ace (re)mixing going on in downtown bern, switzerland out of the mouthwatering club nights . it’s dance with humour. mr scruff, coldcut, queer cheeba , ronnie & clyde + + make it happen

mamani keita & marc minelli – “electro bamako” [universal] - paris and bamako are the melting pot for a potent meeting between electropop and ancient tradition. takes electronic music well forward – dance oriented and also for armchair listener

various – “pure lovers” [charm/jetstar] - time to slow-dance in the blues hours beat! lovely female vocal  representation as you would hope in this groove, nice uk vibe too. don’t ask me exactly who – there wasn’t a track list with my promo!

tinariwen – “the radio tisdas sessions” [wayward records] - funky successors to ali farka toure with a laid-back roots-of-the-blues style, but with a militancy (they are tuareg freedom fighters) and clear links with gnawa vibes. nice male/female voice mix

uk players – “take heed” [ukroots reggae recordings] - “no computers, sequencers or drum machines used – all live” they proudly proclaim and they really do hold it high above tinny digital-reggae. great one drop meets uk dub with conscious lyrics and cool fx!

orchestra baobab – “pirates choice” [world circuit] - the senegalese veterans get a reissue  and  rightly so as anyone whose seen them play will testify. cuba meets africa as if they were old musical friends.

dhol foundation - “big drum: small world” [shakti] -  johnny kalsi and his dhol drummers have been making waves live in the tgu, natach atlas, fun<da>mental zones. this confirms their place in the electronica/dance world without any clichιs
