there shall be love" [nation records] - and there is! gloriously uplifting militancy in the face of a long hot summer on the streets. aki nawaz shares globally located sounds and vibes  - especially from south africa and never forgetting the total brilliance of rizwan muazzam qawal. enjoy!.

zohar - "
one three seven" [arc 21] - what a voice! melliferous! a fine album for listening to right thru appreciating its construction and great tracks to select for club vibes as middle eastern vibes go electronic. hopefully arc 21 will fine tune their marketing, at last, to give this the push it deserves

the sun" [wagram] - challe has perfected lounge selecting for those who want it all - to dance with a vengeance and chill @ le moment juste! he succeeds in licencing ace worldbeat remixes often before the original albums are readily available. uk distribution by discovery (nb who also do 'the birth of dar'!)

operation attack babylon" [charm] - the jet star in-house label celebrates one of reggae's most enduring rhythms with an exciting galaxy of artists from marcia griffiths and dennis alcapone to kashief lindo and nikesha. it's a brilliant intensely programmed experience go deh! released alongside the best reggae hits vol yet - vol 29

nortec collective - "
the tijuana sessions vol 1" [palm pictures] - vol 1 is good - ie  more to come. refreshingly different, tex mex meets 'banda sinaloense' horns , norteno music and ranchera guitars in an electronic melting pot for seriously fun groovin. grows on you irrisistably

alpha rowen - "
the teacher" [charm] - roots with a strong heart and a rare artist who thanks his loving partner alongside the lord, this album successfully explores some heartical lyrics riding new rhythms alongside fresh takes on classics like p tosh's 'shot a bark'.

master musicians of jajouka  feat bashir produced by
talvin singh [point records] -
been out a while but criminally overlooked. demanding listening, grips you with that gnawa trance certainty and talvin's singh's quiet mastery herein. true fusion, very popular in morocco - like the dar music of momo, this meets a hungry need for new music.

kekele - "
rumba congo" [sterns] - been topping sterns charts a while now, as uncompromising original roots of soukous as you could ever hope to dance till you drop to. sweet voices, matchless guitar carrying melody and beats.

various - "
summer sampler" - [relentless] - this is as overground as you'll see me get. i like the relentless output and on this you get some interesting cross genre sorties like baby cham and  bounty killer riding two step like they were to the manner born and so solid in unexpected remix mode.

kyri patsalides is not quite sure who he is. he runs r2 records, and records a hip-hop mix on the xy network as his alter-ego dj cyprus. he also dj's in bars and clubs in various locations on earth.

dom servini runs the wah wah 45's record label with simon goss and his brother chris (london elektricity). he also runs and dj's @ wah wah nights @ dust (first friday of the month), catch 22 (i love wah wah, sept 29th) and various sessions @ the jazz cafe (with les gammas sept 9th) as well as guest spots around the uk and europe.

he also runs/dj's @ the infamous mouseorgan night @ herbal with jake holloway (central records). next mouseorgan session is on october 20th with ross allen.

fethawit - "not that girl" [wah wah 45's] - hip hop/soul from norway with sublime vocals by rising talent fethawit hakin on a jill scott/india arie tip

susumu yokata - "
red door" [leaf] - standout track from mister yokata's "will" lp. piano samples as used by ufo a few years ago make way for frantic percussion and a tune that is a jazz-house monster

quantic - "life in the rain" [tru thoughts] - will hollandaka quantic is a genius and star of the future.this track is utterly bukemesque with strings, vocal samples and hip hop beats galore. check out the lp, 7's and 12's from this man

another day" [talkin' loud] - taken from the sampler for the forthcoming lp, and dego and marc do not disappoint. jill scott perfectly captures the feeling we all have first thing in the morning!

jazzman" [moton] - deep deep retrospective jazzual house flavours from moton. always quality from this label

hear my people" [hospital] - tim land returns with a cut taken from the "out patients 2" lp from the greatest record label in west london. nice jazzy two step business

incognito - "
bring you down" (4-hero bring you up mix) [talkin' loud] - part of a forthcoming remix package that includes remixes from ski and bluey himself. top stuff

fertile ground - "
spiritual war" (kaidi tatham mix)  [counterpoint] - the second installement from baltimore's finest, with kaidi and wai wan on remix duty this time. kaidi builds the tension of the original track before launching it into a stunning downtempo jazz shuffler

restless soul feat. valerie etienne - "
beautiful" [people] - uncle phil and auntie val come through with some deep restless soul pressure and a really beautiful tune. uplifting soul for the dancefloor
