not much is known about mr bourgie, other than he is a renowned bon-vivant found at all the 'exclusive' parties around town sipping on the finest wines. he joined the circus as a child where he first encountered the magical power of music while assisting the organ grinder. he has recently signed with r2 records - an album is expected soon.

dj debbie - global vibes top ten (not in any particular order)

likely to be playing on my outernational vibes show on www.gaialive.co.uk alt sats between 4-6pm i dj at various places – when asked!

mere mortals – “universal code” [interchill] - originally from bucharest via vancouver and back again with ecologically conscious chilled-out dubwise ambience that travels global routes without compromise or cliché. love ‘amphora’s north-african style

fermin muguruza – “fm 99.00 dub [manifest pirhana] - basque-man fermin muguruza is steeped in old skool studio dub reggae bordering on ska. except he also likes d’n’b and traditional roots sounds and isn’t afraid to mix them into the  same track + he’s politically super sharp.

various artists – “funkadelica vol 1” [feelgood productions] - dancing to a different drum with sounds drawn from the asian side and the newly happenin north african dar scene. badmarsh, dj pathaan vs gaudi and the band i manage – momo  alongside guiliano + pony themselves all contribute devastating global dance

various - “traveller 01” [six degrees] - got to be one of the best labels out there global fusion wise bob holroyd, state  f bengal, euphoria patato to say nothing of dzihan & kamien and monica ramos  re-mixed by surprising yet perfect partners

levi roots – “jah will never let you down [soundbox music] - levi roots – special dread singjay  invites man (and woman) like yami bolo, earl sixteen, starkey banton and jayzik azikiwe to tear down the greedy bug rhythm, not forgetting classics like rasta jubilee

justin adams – “kin” [wayward] - it’s for a sound track expressing the essence of the african desert facing change. whilst staying close to his first love of north african vibes justin goes right down to namibia via senegal never forgetting that he’s essentially a (brilliant) rock guitarist

various – “snowboy presents the return of the high hat” (essential cuban, brazilian, hard bop + fusion) [ocho] - the subtitle says it all as mccoy turner and jaco pastorius enjoy a renaissance in fresh new company like sirius b, joyce, antibalas and inner sense. snowboy never forgets the uk scene alongside original roots

radio tarifa – “cruzando el rio” [world circuit] - easysecond album that shows that whilst there’s only 15km across to tangier there’s still an ocean to cross as cultures fuse without loosing identity . the gateway to africa is also the threshold of europe

liz mccoomb  - “wayfaring stranger” [columbia] - this is live in paris from a little while back and it’s not a new album. i always come back to its dynamic yet laid back blues jazz, toughly warm lyrics and that voice! so rich, so beautiful, gospel embraced

gino sitson – “song zin” [smi] - cameroonian, with a wonderful voice, a politicised african in america sharing  wisdom, compassion and a tough world view. how to classify? world jazz? african soul? don’t try! enjoy!
